How to Save Credits on Wondercraft (and Still Create Amazing Audio)

Burning through credits too fast is the equivalent of eating all your snacks on the first hour of a road trip. Before you know it, you’re out, and suddenly, the journey feels a lot longer.

But good news! You don’t have to ration your creativity to make the most of Wondercraft. With a little planning, you can create high-quality podcasts, ads, or meditations while keeping your credit usage in check.

Here’s how to spend smarter, not more.

Step 1: The golden rule—edit before you generate

Repeat after us: Don’t hit “Generate” until your script is solid

It’s easy to get excited and click that button right away—but every time you generate audio, you use credits. Instead, make all your text edits first (which, by the way, is totally free).

  • Read your script carefully – Does it flow well? Do you have the right structure?
  • Decide on your speakers – One narrator or multiple voices? Assign them before generating.
  • Use our Library of Prompts – Stuck? Browse our suggestions to create your script.

Tip: Text editing is unlimited and costs zero credits, so tweak away!

Step 2: Test your AI voices before committing

Choosing the right AI voice is like picking the perfect actor for a role—you don’t want to guess and hope for the best.

How to preview AI voices (without spending credits!)

Click on a speaker’s name and preview different voices before applying them.

Want something even more personal? Clone your own voice.

You only get charged when you generate audio—so test as many voices as you want beforehand.

Important: If you’re changing voices for just one speaker, don’t forget to select “Apply All” for that speaker.

Step 3: Double-check speakers

Nothing’s worse than hitting “Generate” only to realize you assigned the wrong speaker to half the lines. Before you commit:

  • Make sure each line is assigned to the correct voice.
  • Check for tricky words—if you need something spelled out, separate each letter (e.g., W W W instead of WWW).

This takes just a minute but saves you from re-generating (and using extra credits) later.

Step 4: Generate once,  not ten times

Here’s the deal: 1 credit = roughly 1 minute of generated audio. If your final clip is 5 minutes long, you’ll use 5 credits to generate it.

That’s why it’s smarter to get everything right the first time—instead of generating, tweaking, and re-generating multiple times.

Do it right

  • Review & edit before generating.
  • Preview voices instead of changing them after generating.
  • Double-check speakers are correctly assigned.

If you do all of the above, you’ll use fewer credits.

Step 5: Use Director & Parrot Mode wisely

You’ve generated your audio—nice! Now you might want to edit a few things.

Director Mode

Director Mode Wondercraft

Want the AI voice to sound more cheerful, serious, or dramatic? Adjust its tone before applying, so you only pay when you’re happy with the preview.

Parrot Mode

Parrot Mode Wondercraft

Need a sentence to sound exactly how you’d say it? Record yourself and let AI mimic your tone. Again, you can preview it first—credits are only used when you hit “Apply.”

Tip: If you need a small edit, change the text and regenerate only that section instead of the whole script.

Smarter edits = more credits saved

At the end of the day, you will use credits—that’s the whole point. But if you plan ahead and edit before generating, you can cut your credit use in half while still creating amazing audio.

TL;DR – How to save credits in Wondercraft

  • Edit your script before generating—text changes are free!
  • Preview voices before applying—don’t generate just to test.
  • Assign the right speakers to each section first.
  • Generate once, not multiple times—try to get it right the first time.
  • Use Director & Parrot Mode wisely—preview before committing.

By following these simple steps, you’ll get the most out of your credits—without sacrificing quality.
